Canggu only miles away but seemingly world's apart from the more well known tourist areas of Bali. Canggu is the answer for a more relaxing surfing adventure than the hustle and bustle of the main Kuta area. Canggu is 45 mins drive from Denpasar's International Nugurah Rai Airport and Medewi another relaxing area is just  another 30 minutes  further north up the coast, about 80km from Kuta. Both of these areas plus Balian offer you some great surfing options and with hotels available in beachfront locations, you don't have to rough it or travel far to get to the surf!

Once you have reached your destination in Canggu, Kuta just seems so far away! With plenty on offer at the hotels to do and places of interest nearby to go and see you won't be bored. Surf exploration is a must with several good breaks to choose from each day. Canggu should definitely be on your list to visit for your next trip to Bali! This stretch of coast is a good place to avoid crowds with fun beach breaks, rivermouths and point breaks. Canggu is a great place to unwind after experiencing a few hectic days in Kuta or go straight to the region and chill out right from the start of your holiday.

Bali has surf year round so depending on what season you go and where you are staying you are guaranteed to find waves.  The best time of year to surf the Canggu area is during the dry season from March to November. This is when the trade winds are blowing offshore. Kuta Beach is the main beach in Bali and can at times get crowded, although generally there are plenty of good banks around to grab a few waves, with more breaks further up the coast with less crowds.
