Palikir Marine Adventures is the only locally owned surf camp in Pohnpei and guests are guaranteed to have a unique Pohnpeian experience. As you enter the park you will get a sense of tradition and experience the natural and almost untouched beauty that surrounds Palikir, which is home to those locals that still use Palikir Pass as their own hunting grounds. In fact, Wilbur Walter the local owner of the marine park still to this day fishes and dives the area with his family. Palikir Marine camp is managed by Australians who are present year round and are there as your personal surf guides. With a wealth of experience in and out of the water and time in the islands, the guys guarantee that you’re in safe hands.

Kolonia is the capital of Pohnpei and can be quite a bustling town at times, with even the odd peak hour rush. You will find a few restaurants and bars in town but they quickly disappear as you journey around the island which can be done with around 4 hours driving time.

Perfect barrels aren't the only attraction to the islands, with stunning waterfalls, mountains and trails to explore. The island is also home to some magnificent flora and fauna, reefs and marine life. For those wanting a steep challenge, try climbing Sokehs Rock and be rewarded with breath taking views around the island. As for history, again Pohnpei surprises you with a cultural past not often seen or heard of on a tiny island in the Pacific. Nan Madol is home to a mysterious legend that is only now beginning to come to light. Visit the ruins of this ancient site and ponder a thought for 'a culture past by' or visit WW II relics which lay scattered amongst the tropical forests.

Palikir Marine Adventures have newly built self-contained bungalows which lay at the foot of the Palikir hills. These hills are in constant view of the famous P Pass and the surrounding waters. Beautiful tropical rain forest streams down the mountains to the foot of the hills, finishing at a mangrove system that then extends into the stunning coral reef system that lies just off from your bungalows.

Palikir Marine Adventures have a new 30ft Japanese built vessel called a marine 6 which is equipped with dual 90hp 4 stroke engines. This boat ensures that all your water activities can be done in a safe and secure manner. The centre console boat allows you to walk fully around boat, making it ideal for either fishing in calm or open waters. When you’re not fishing or diving the boat doubles as the surf transfer vessel. When out surfing the boat will remain with you at all times and when you want a rest or a snack the boats bimini covers assure you get some shaded relief before going out to your next barrel filled, pumping session.

You are guaranteed to enjoy your stay in the tropic's at Palikir Marine Adventures and whether your surfing, diving or just plain old just lazying about this stunning protected marine park acts as your backdrop.

What's The Surf Like?

What's The Surf Like?

The Caroline Islands gets its winter waves from swells produced from storms generated in the North Pacific Ocean, while the Western Pacific typhoons produce swells from October to May. Big island style waves that break over the outer lying fringe reef passes. Generally, the surf season starts around the beginning of October and finishes towards the end of April. Most of the surf breaks are located a few kilometers offshore and require a boat transfer to access the waves.
